When I look at the Finals obviously there are so many moving parts that can affect a series. Although Miami is the more talented group of individuals, I’m picking Dallas in 6 games, due to their depth, size and veteran leadership. Dirk, J. Kidd, Shawn Marion, Peja, are all savvy veterans and Dallas’ ball movement, unselfishness and open shooting were a huge reason why they have eliminated two of the favorites to win the Western Conference in the Lakers and OKC. Miami is like OKC on steroids, even more dangerous in the open court off turnovers, and with 2 of the best in the world and a pet Boshstritch who had a very good Eastern finals against the Bulls. Dallas will have to limit their turnovers, get back on defense so Chandler and Haywood can protect the rim, and hopefully a combination of the irrationally confident defense of Deshawn Stevenson (who has a history of feuding with Lebron from when he played with Washington) and Marion to limit the good looks at the hoop and keep LeBron and Wade shooting 18 foot fadeaways then Dallas is certainly the team to beat.
Matchups:
PG
Kidd – Bibby
Two veteran backcourt players that would be much better to watch if it was 2001, but I give the advantage to Kidd due to his continually amazing passing ability and his improved 3 point shot, not to mention he knows when and how to get Dirk the ball at critical moments.
SG
DeShawn Stevenson – Dwyane Wade
Obviously Wade has the advantage here, Stevenson provides a defensive stopper mentality that Dallas lacked back in 2006 and as mentioned before he is crazy enough to think he can stop Wade or Lebron, as long as he can contain these guys he’s done his job. Good luck with that.
SF
Shawn Marion – LeBron James
Marion can be an X factor in this series, as he played good defense on Durant in the Western Finals and was able to score in transition and on mismatches in the post. Lebron James is staking his claim as the greatest player on Earth and Shawn Marion certainly isn’t the one man to stop him. Team defense will be huge and possibly a couple of hard fouls from Brendan Haywood will keep Lebron shooting jumpers. Obvious advantage Lebron.
PF
Dirk – Chris Bosh
Dirk only needs one name, he’s been that good this postseason with his historic stats shooting the basketball. Dirk has a huge advantage if Bosh guards him because he’s bigger, stronger, and craftier than Bosh. Bosh could have a big series with all the attention that LeBron and Wade attract, but his lack of big game experience should worry Heat fans. I look for Bosh to start on Dirk and then LeBron to take him down the stretch.
C
Tyson Chandler – Joelle Anthony
Defense is the name of the game in this matchup, but Chandler has a significant advantage because he is one of the most athletic big men in the league. He’s given this Dallas team a shot blocking presence they never had when Erik(a) Dampier was in the paint for all those years. Not to mention its always fun to watch him hammer home an alley oop from J. Kidd.
Bench
No question Dallas has the advantage with a superb 2nd unit featuring JJ Barea, Jason Terry, Peja, and Brendan Haywood, if these guys come in and contribute the way they have through the first 3 series then Miami will be in trouble. Terry and Barea are instant offense that can completely change the game and its this team mentality that will carry Dallas to their first ever championship.
Við þökkum Justin fyrir hans innlegg og sjáum á næstu dögum hversu naskur kappinn er á NBA deildina.
